SEGA and Toei Company announce collaboration for Stranger Than Heaven

SEGA has announced an official collaboration between its upcoming title, Stranger Than Heaven, and the Toei Company. Developed by RGG Studio, the game will feature Toei cinematic elements, including movie posters and trailers, integrated into the in-game environments to enhance the cultural atmosphere of different Japanese historical periods.

A new trailer has been released as a tribute to the Battles Without Honor and Humanity film series, utilizing visual editing and music inspired by the works of Kinji Fukasaku. SEGA noted that while the trailer serves as a stylistic homage, it does not necessarily dictate the final tone of the game.

The partnership also includes the digital recreation of the late actor Bunta Sugawara, a star of the original film series, who will appear in the game as the character Genzo Iwaki. His performance is supported by voice actor Takashi Ukaji. Collaboration merchandise is expected to be available at the Tokyo Game Show 2026.
