Segovia hosts 108th Landscape Painting Course in August

The 108th edition of the Curso de Pintores Pensionados del Paisaje will be held in Segovia from 3 to 25 August. Organized by the Real Academia de Historia y Arte de San Quirce, the event will feature sixteen pensioned artists selected from Spanish fine‑arts faculties, plus one local artist, who will work and study the Segovian landscape for over three weeks. Artistic direction is provided by Joaquín Millán, with coordination by Fernando Herranz and production by Sonia Tapias. The programme includes plein‑air painting sessions, studio workshops, conferences, visits and other cultural activities, turning the city into a hub of artistic exchange.

The course, founded in 1919 and moved to Segovia in 1950, has a long tradition documented by participants such as Agustín Albalat, Claire Brucker, Louis Vacheur, Carl Heinze Kliemann and Joaquín Michavila. It receives support from the Ayuntamiento de Segovia, the Diputación Provincial, the Junta de Castilla y León and various cultural foundations and local businesses.
