Segovia hotel tourism declines as international visitors rise

Hotel tourism in the province of Segovia saw a 7% decrease in travelers during August compared to the previous year, according to data from the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE). Total travelers reached 64,898, down from 69,763 in August 2025.

Despite the overall decline, there is a notable shift in visitor demographics. While domestic travelers from Spain decreased by 15.3%, international visitors saw a significant increase of 29.4%, rising from 13,011 to 16,833. Consequently, foreign tourists now represent 25.9% of all hotel guests in the province, up from 18.7% the previous year.

Overnight stays also reflected this trend, falling 10.4% overall to 108,616 nights. Domestic overnight stays dropped by 17.8%, whereas international stays increased by 20.6%. This transformation toward an international profile is particularly evident in the city of Segovia, where international arrivals have gained significant ground.
