Segurança Social warns of fraudulent phishing emails

Portugal's Social Security (Segurança Social) has issued an alert regarding a new wave of fraudulent emails targeting citizens. These phishing attempts use the pretext of personal data updates to deceive recipients.

The fraudulent messages often use urgent subject lines such as “Última chamada: atualize seu cadastro” or “Confirme seus dados para continuar seguro,” claiming that accounts may be blocked if action is not taken by September.

Authorities advise that official entities do not threaten immediate suspensions or request data confirmation via external links. Users are urged not to click on links, respond to these emails, or enter passwords and authentication codes on pages accessed through these messages. If a user accidentally provides data, they should contact official Social Security channels immediately.
