Sei Network surpasses 2.6 billion transactions in three years
Sei Network has surpassed 2.63 billion cumulative transactions since its mainnet launch in mid-2023. This milestone represents approximately 70% of the total transactions processed by Ethereum, which has operated for over 11 years and recorded roughly 3.75 billion transactions.
Designed as a Layer 1 blockchain focused on scalability and speed, Sei utilizes a parallel execution engine. The network currently offers a maximum throughput of 12,500 transactions per second (TPS) and a finality time of less than 0.4 seconds.
To further enhance performance, Sei is pursuing the ‘Giga upgrade.’ This initiative aims to achieve over 200,000 TPS by combining the ‘Autobahn’ consensus algorithm with asynchronous parallel execution technology. The upgrade includes the Ares execution layer and Eidos storage layer, which are being integrated into the v6.6 mainnet update.
Additionally, through governance proposal SIP-3, Sei is transitioning from its Cosmos-based environment to a dedicated Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) system. This shift is intended to unify the development environment and lower entry barriers for Ethereum-based developers.
