Seia honors António de Almeida Santos on his centenary

The Municipality of Seia is organizing a commemorative program to mark the centenary of the birth of António de Almeida Santos. The event, promoted alongside the Union of Parishes of Vide and Cabeça, includes naming a street after him and inaugurating a square in Cabeça, his birthplace.

Almeida Santos was a prominent lawyer, jurist, writer, and politician who played a significant role in Portuguese politics following the April 25, 1974 Revolution. A leading figure in the Socialist Party, he served in various government roles and presided over the Assembly of the Republic from 1995 to 2002. He is remembered for his contributions to the consolidation of Portuguese democracy and his defense of justice, freedom, and the rule of law.
