Seibu Group to host Showa 100th Anniversary golf competition

Seibu Prince Hotels Worldwide has announced the ‘Seibu Group Presents Showa 100th Anniversary Golf Competition,’ scheduled for November 6, 2026, at the Karuizawa 72 Golf North Course. The event serves as a climax to the group’s ‘Showa 100th Anniversary Project,’ which aims to preserve and pass on the golf culture established during the Showa era to younger generations.

The competition will feature former prize money queen Fumiko Muraguchi as a special guest, including a near-pin contest at the 17th hole. Participants will receive a commemorative book supervised by Golf Digest, which includes course introductions and reflections on the 100-year history of the Seibu Group.

Other highlights include a special award ceremony featuring Showa-era music and themed menus, as well as various prizes from Seibu Group companies, such as hotel vouchers and leisure tickets. The event is designed to bridge generational gaps by celebrating the charm and history of the Showa period through sport and hospitality.
