Seibu Railway announces retro 101 series train tours

Seibu Railway has announced two special railway events scheduled for October 24, 2026, featuring the retro 101 series train. These initiatives are part of the company’s ‘Suma-Pla’ project, which is planned and proposed by the railway staff themselves.

The first event, the ‘Revival! Ikebukuro Line 101 Series Ride Tour,’ will run from Hanno Station to Toshimaen Station via Ikebukuro Station. The tour is designed to mimic a Rapid Express service to allow passengers to experience the powerful motor sounds of the mechanical, non-digital 101 series. The tour is open to elementary school students and older, with 80 spots available at a cost of 3,500 yen per person.

The second event, ‘Pashan! Let’s Make the 101 Series Sound with Your Own Hands!’, is an experiential program for elementary and middle school students. Participants will ride a special 101 series train and visit the Hoya depot to experience operating emergency brakes, opening and closing doors, and making in-car announcements. The program also includes a Seibu Railway driving simulator experience. This event is limited to 20 groups at a cost of 20,000 yen per group.

Applications will be accepted via the Seibu Line app starting October 2, 2026, on a first-come, first-served basis.
