Seibu Railway to launch Tokiiro Express service in 2027
Seibu Railway has announced the launch of its new paid seating service, ‘Tokiiro Express’, scheduled to begin operations in the spring of 2027. This service will replace the current 10000 series ‘New Red Arrow’ on the Seibu Shinjuku Line with new ‘Tokiiro’ rolling stock.
The new service will expand its reach by adding stops at Tanashi Station and Shin-Tokorozawa Station, marking the first time these stations will host regular paid seating trains. The new ‘Tokiiro’ carriages are designed with passenger comfort in mind, featuring reclining seats, individual power outlets, cup holders, and hooks at every seat. The cars will also be equipped with onboard toilets.
By the spring of 2028, Seibu Railway plans to unify all paid seating services on the Shinjuku Line under the ‘Tokiiro’ brand, which will include the introduction of the ‘Tokiiro Liner’ to replace the current ‘Haijima Liner’ service.
