Seiko celebrates 145th anniversary with limited‑edition watches in Japan

To mark its 145th anniversary, Seiko staged a special exhibition titled “Seiko 145th Anniversary ~History, Challenge, and Future~” at Isetan Shinjuku’s main floor from 12 to 18 August. The event showcased the brand’s evolution and featured limited‑edition pieces such as the King Seiko VANAC models and a Pro‑Spex diver’s watch, with only 800 worldwide units of the King Seiko “VANAC” and 300 units for the Japanese market.

In parallel, Seiko released a new “Edo‑Murasaki” collection, dubbed the Edo Purple line, comprising six watches—including an Alpinist, Speedtimer, Cocktail Time, 5 Sports SKX, Rotocall and Astron. The Alpinist edition is limited to 7,000 pieces and priced at £820, featuring a 6R55 automatic movement with a 72‑hour power reserve. The collection highlights the brand’s past, present and future through distinct colour themes, with Edo purple representing the future.
