Seiko Epson to issue 10 billion yen in green bonds

Seiko Epson Corporation has announced plans to issue green bonds, uncollateralized straight bonds, based on its newly established ‘Green Finance Framework’. The initiative is part of the company’s long-term vision, ‘ENGINEERED FUTURE 2035’, which aims to reduce environmental impact through business activities and contribute to social environmental value.

The planned issuance is expected to be approximately 10 billion yen with a five-year term, targeting a release as early as September 2026. The funds will be used to refinance existing expenditures related to eligible projects, including capital investment and research and development for inkjet-related products at various facilities, as well as costs for implementing renewable energy to maintain 100% renewable electricity usage.

Rating and Investment Information, Inc. (R&I) has provided a second-party opinion confirming that the framework complies with the International Capital Market Association (ICMA) Green Bond Principles 2025, the Loan Market Association (LMA) Green Loan Principles 2025, and the guidelines provided by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment.
