Seismologist Gerasimos Papadopoulos predicts more major earthquakes through 2026

Seismologist Gerasimos Papadopoulos has stated that it is highly probable that two to three more earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.0 or greater will occur globally before the end of 2026.

Papadopoulos based his assessment on global statistical data rather than specific regional predictions. He noted that recent seismic activity, including a 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Panama and a 7.0 magnitude earthquake in Tibet, aligns with his previous observations.

According to data from the British Geological Survey, the Earth experiences an average of approximately 15 earthquakes of magnitude 7 or higher annually. While these statistics suggest a high probability of further significant events, the seismologist clarified that such data does not provide certainty regarding the exact timing or specific locations of future tremors.
