Seixal leads Setúbal district in PME Líder 2025 awards

A total of 14,133 companies in Portugal have been awarded the PME Líder 2025 status, representing an increase of 739 companies compared to the previous year. These businesses collectively generated over 63 billion euros in turnover, exceeded 10 billion euros in exports, and secured more than 445,000 jobs.

In the Setúbal district, Seixal led with 127 companies receiving the distinction, followed by Setúbal with 100, Almada with 91, and Palmela with 71. Seixal has maintained its position as the leader in the district every year between 2020 and 2025. Within Seixal, the business landscape is dominated by commerce (44.9%), followed by services (24.4%), industry (18.1%), and construction (12.6%). Small companies make up 72.5% of the distinguished group in the municipality.

The PME Líder distinction is awarded by IAPMEI, in partnership with Turismo de Portugal for the tourism sector, alongside partner banking institutions and the Grupo Banco Português de Fomento, recognizing companies with solid economic and financial performance.
