Seiyun residents protest proposed qat market location

Residents of the Al-Qurain, Al-Soum, Al-Tarha, and Al-Haymarat areas in Seiyun held a second protest to oppose the relocation of a qat market to a site near their homes. Protesters argue the proposed location is situated within a flood path and is too close to residential areas and a charitable hospital.

Local residents expressed concerns that the project could infringe on privacy, damage nearby agricultural lands, and pose safety risks due to the flood path. They also reported the presence of military forces at the site intended to secure construction work, which they claim does not address their grievances. The community is calling on the Hadramaut provincial and Seiyun district authorities to halt the project and select an alternative location that ensures public safety and respects residential privacy.
