Sejong Chungnam National University Hospital undergoes antibiotic stewardship inspection

Sejong Chungnam National University Hospital recently completed a second-year on-site inspection for the ‘2026 Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) Pilot Project’ conducted by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.

The hospital operates a multidisciplinary ASP team consisting of infectious disease specialists, clinical microbiologists, and infectious disease pharmacists. Key initiatives evaluated during the inspection included the establishment of disease-specific antibiotic use guidelines, real-time intervention and feedback on prescriptions, and the ‘Handshake Stewardship’ program. This collaborative strategy involves the ASP team meeting directly with medical staff to review antibiotic prescriptions and provide customized feedback and communication-based education.

The inspection team recognized the high level of expertise and professional capabilities of the hospital’s ASP team, specifically noting their multidisciplinary cooperation and effective intervention activities. Professor Kim Seong-min, leader of the ASP team, stated that the hospital will use the results of this inspection to further strengthen the team's capabilities and provide safer, more reliable medical services to the local community.
