Sejong City to host ‘Sejong and Namjun’ Hangeul culture exhibition

Sejong Special Self-Governing City will host the 2026 Hangeul Culture Special Exhibition, titled ‘Sejong and Namjun’, from October 9 to November 8 at the Jungang Park Biennale Exhibition Hall. The exhibition marks the official opening of the Biennale Exhibition Hall.

The event highlights the connection between King Sejong the Great, the creator of Hangeul, and Nam June Paik, a pioneer of modern video art. Although they lived in different eras and worked in different fields, the exhibition focuses on their shared ability to create new methods of communication and drive creative change by breaking existing boundaries.

Curated by Park Mi-hwa, the artistic director of the 2027 Sejong Hangeul Biennale, the exhibition is divided into three themes: ‘Communication, Hangeul and Video Art’, ‘Collaboration, Jiphyeonjeon and Fluxus’, and ‘Art Expanding Beyond Boundaries’. It will showcase various materials and works exploring the innovative thinking of both figures across science, technology, and art.

The exhibition is open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, closed on Mondays, with guided tours available on Tuesdays through Sundays at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
