Sekiro: No Defeat anime series to premiere January 2027

The anime adaptation of FromSoftware’s award-winning video game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, titled ‘Sekiro: No Defeat’, is scheduled to premiere in January 2027. The series will consist of eight episodes and will be streamed globally on Crunchyroll, excluding Japan, China, Korea, Russia, and Belarus.

Produced by KADOKAWA, Qzil. la, and ARCH, the project features fully hand-drawn 2D animation. While a theatrical version of the story is currently screening in Japanese cinemas, the upcoming TV series will be an expanded version, incorporating new scenes and additional content not found in the film.

The production team includes director Kenichi Kutsuna, screenwriter Takuya Satou, and character designer Takahiro Kishida. The voice cast features Daisuke Namikawa as Wolf, Miyuki Satou as Kuro, and Kenjiro Tsuda as Genichiro Ashina. The story is set in a fantastical reimagining of Japan’s Sengoku era, following the shinobi Wolf as he protects the Divine Heir, Kuro.
