Sekiro: No Defeat director requests fans avoid new trailer
Ken’ichi Kutsuna, the director of the anime Sekiro: No Defeat, has publicly requested that fans avoid watching a newly released promotional trailer. The video, titled ‘The Battle in the Silvergrass Fields’, was released on September 3 by the production company Arch.
Kutsuna stated that the trailer contains unapproved footage that reveals a significant cinematic moment intended to be experienced only in theaters. While he noted the video does not contain direct story spoilers, he emphasized that the visual presentation is a key element that should not have been disclosed prematurely. The director attributed the unauthorized release to Arch, clarifying that Kadokawa Corporation is not responsible for the error.
The anime, inspired by FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, follows the shinobi Wolf on a mission to rescue Lord Kuro and protect the lands of Ashina. The film began a limited three-week theatrical run in Japan on September 4.
