Sekolah Rakyat in Ngawi begins operations for underprivileged students

The Sekolah Rakyat (People's School) in Ngawi Regency, East Java, has officially begun operations. Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, also known as Gus Ipul, visited the facility on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

Unlike other regions that utilize temporary government buildings for pilot programs, Ngawi Regency provided land specifically for the construction of a permanent school building. The facility currently serves 220 students across elementary, middle, and high school levels, with a total of 18 elementary, 90 middle, and 112 high school students enrolled. The school is expected to eventually accommodate over 1,000 students.

Local parents expressed gratitude to President Prabowo Subianto for the initiative, noting that the school provides vital educational opportunities for underprivileged families and children who had previously dropped out of school.
