Selangor allocates RM20m to resolve strata ownership issues

The Selangor government has allocated up to RM20 million for the years 2025 and 2026 to resolve long-standing strata ownership issues. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari noted that the resolution process involves more than just building plan approvals and land tax payments; it requires the extensive collection and verification of information for individual property owners, which can be difficult in developments containing hundreds or thousands of units.

Amirudin attributed some of the delays to developers who have ceased operations or neglected their obligations, as well as weaknesses in previous state administrations. He called for cooperation between the state, relevant agencies, developers, and strata communities to expedite the process.

Additionally, Selangor Housing and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Borhan Aman Shah announced a separate RM5.68 million allocation for three strata community empowerment initiatives in 2026. This includes RM5.16 million under the Ceria Scheme for repair works at 12 strata housing schemes, RM184,000 for the Apartment Revitalisation and Selangor Community Strengthening Programme (SPARK) across 23 apartments, and RM340,000 for the C-SMART 2.0 program involving 12 local authorities.
