Selangor declares public holiday for Sultan’s Silver Jubilee

The Selangor state government has announced that October 25, 2026, will be observed as a special public holiday to mark the Silver Jubilee of Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah’s accession to the throne. Because the anniversary falls on a Sunday, Monday, October 26, 2026, will be designated as the replacement public holiday.

State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin stated that approximately 20 official programs are scheduled to take place between September 28 and November 1, 2026. These events will cover various sectors, including religious activities, social welfare, environmental sustainability, infrastructure, and sports. Key ceremonies will include a Guard of Honour inspection with a 21-gun salute, a Proclamation of Titles and Oath-Taking Ceremony, and the presentation of Selangor State Awards.

In accordance with the Sultan’s wishes for restraint, the celebrations are intended to be conducted on a modest scale to avoid extravagance. Commemorative items, such as special coins, stamps, and a book titled ‘Menjulang Takhta’, will also be launched to mark the milestone.
