Selangor Veterinary Services Sends Rocky Dog Death Probe to Deputy Prosecutor
A stray‑dog catching operation in Port Klang, Selangor, on 29 July resulted in the death of a pet dog named Rocky. The owner, identified as Roghini Devi, says the animal was restrained with a steel‑wire cable, beaten and died before city‑council officers arrived. She is exploring legal options and has criticised the authorities for focusing on the dog’s lack of a licence until a viral video prompted formal action.
The Selangor Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) submitted investigation papers and recommendations to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s (DPP) Office on 5 August. DVS said it will await further instructions from the DPP before taking additional action, and urged the public to remain calm while the case proceeds through legal channels.
