Selangor wins overall championship at SUKMA XXII 2026

The 22nd edition of the Malaysia Games (SUKMA XXII) in Selangor has concluded, with the host state, Selangor, emerging as the overall champion. Selangor secured its 10th title with a total of 245 medals, including 101 gold, 73 silver, and 71 bronze. Other top performers included Wilayah Persekutuan in second place and Terengganu in third.

Following the games, Youth and Sports Minister Dr. Mohammed Taufiq Johari announced that 132 athletes (59 men and 73 women) have been identified as potential candidates for the 2027 SEA Games. These athletes will undergo continuous monitoring based on performance, consistency, fitness, and injury status.

Individual highlights included Eliza Tan Ai Shen of Selangor being named Best Female Athlete and Cheah Zen Hong of Pahang named Best Male Athlete. Additionally, Sarawak achieved a historic milestone by winning its first SUKMA gold medal in e-sports through its sim racing squad. The next edition of SUKMA is scheduled to be hosted by Kelantan in 2028.
