Selargius approves €0.5 million upgrade of Via San Luigi

The Selargius municipal council, chaired by the Piazza Cellarium administration, has approved an executive project to restyle Via San Luigi. The plan, costing just over €500,000, is chiefly financed by the Sardinia regional authority with the remaining share covered by local funds.

The works will involve demolition and reconstruction of the sidewalks, removal of architectural barriers, upgrading of the storm‑water drainage system and a full resurfacing of the road. After a brief delay caused by an appeal, a €400,000 contract was awarded and the council expects construction to begin between late 2026 and early 2027, focusing first on the most deteriorated sections such as Via Vittorio Veneto, Via Mazzini and Via Machiavelli. The project follows years of resident petitions complaining about crumbling pavement, potholes and unsafe conditions.
