Selayar Regent Calls for Fairer Regional Head Pay and DBH Reform

During a virtual working session of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives and the Ministry of Home Affairs on 30 July 2026, Bupati H. Muhammad Natsir Ali of Selayar Islands highlighted the need to revise the remuneration system for regional heads. The meeting addressed amendments to Government Regulations No. 109/2000 and No. 69/2010 to ensure compensation reflects task burden, geographic challenges, governance quality, cost of living, and fiscal capacity.

Participants also urged a review of the formula for the Revenue Sharing Fund (Dana Bagi Hasil) to give greater weight to resource‑rich, island, border, under‑developed, and low‑fiscal‑capacity regions. Selayar’s representative stressed that a more equitable DBH scheme would accelerate development in the archipelagic area, and called for phased, timely disbursement of any arrears in 2026.
