SELECT and Luceco Group launch apprentice funding for Scottish electrical firms
The trade body SELECT has partnered with Luceco Group to launch ‘Powering Potential’, an initiative designed to support small electrical businesses in Scotland by subsidizing apprentice training costs.
Three member firms have been selected as the inaugural recipients of £6,000 grants each to help offset the expenses of employing first-year electrical installation apprentices. The recipients include V C Electrical in Gullane, T Walsh Contracts Ltd in Ayr, and A B Electrical Scotland Ltd in Aboyne. In addition to the financial grants, electrical equipment was donated to the apprentices.
The initiative was announced at the SELECT President’s Lunch in Edinburgh. The program aims to address industry concerns regarding rising training costs, as a recent SELECT survey identified high wages and insufficient employer funding as primary barriers to apprentice recruitment.
