Select Nutri Industrias opens cassava plant in Colonia Aurora, Argentina

Brazilian company Select Nutri Industrias S.R.L. is investing about 7 million reais (roughly US$1.5 million) to build a cassava (mandioca) processing facility in Colonia Aurora, Misiones Province, Argentina. The plant will produce frozen, vacuum‑packed cassava products such as fries and slices for mass distribution and the food‑service sector. The project is part of a public‑private partnership with the Ministry of Industry of Misiones, attended by ministers Federico Fachinello and Carlos Sartori, and is expected to create direct and indirect industrial jobs in the municipality and surrounding areas.

The investment, led by CEO Franco Reis, includes machinery, cold‑room infrastructure and processing lines, with an initial production start slated for 3 August and an official inauguration in September attended by Governor Hugo Passalacqua. Local entrepreneur Gilson Berger contributed land and local knowledge, forming a joint venture that situates the plant only five kilometres from the planned international crossing over the Uruguay River linking Argentina with Santo Antônio, Brazil, positioning the facility to benefit from a future Brazil‑Argentina trade corridor.
