Selena Gomez addresses criticism regarding her appearance and aging

Selena Gomez has addressed public criticism regarding her physical appearance and the natural aging process. During a recent interview with People magazine, conducted in honor of her receiving the Beauty Impact Award for her mental health advocacy, the singer, actress, and Rare Beauty founder expressed that she embraces aging.

Gomez noted that while physical changes are a natural part of being alive, she does not fear getting older, stating, “Aging has been very fun. I am not afraid at all. I love aging.” She also commented on the public's tendency to compare her current look to her aesthetic from around 2016, jokingly remarking, “I always joke saying that I think people want to freeze me in time in that era of my life.”

The artist emphasized her preference for a more natural beauty identity compared to the more intense makeup styles of her past. She also touched upon the impact of lupus and related medications on her physical appearance, highlighting the double standards often applied to female celebrities regarding their looks.
