Selena Gomez discusses future motherhood and mental health advocacy

Selena Gomez has expressed her intention to become a mother in the future, despite previously disclosing that medical complications prevent her from carrying a pregnancy. Speaking at the Fast Company Innovation Festival in New York, the singer and entrepreneur discussed her desire to break the taboo surrounding non-traditional paths to parenthood, such as adoption or surrogacy.

Gomez connected her personal journey to her advocacy work with the Rare Impact Fund, a non-profit she founded to support youth mental health services. She emphasized the importance of reducing stigma around difficult topics, noting that her own health challenges, including lupus and bipolar disorder, have shaped her perspective on vulnerability and openness.

Her husband, music producer Benny Blanco, has also spoken publicly about his readiness to start a family. Gomez reiterated that while her path to motherhood may look different than she originally envisioned, she remains committed to the goal of having children.
