Selena Gomez links nicotine vaping to changes in her voice

Singer and actor Selena Gomez has revealed that her history of nicotine vaping has physically altered her voice. In a candid video shared with followers, the 34-year-old stated that the addiction was difficult to break and cautioned others that the habit is ‘not worth it.’

Medical experts have commented on her experience, noting that the chemical substances in e-cigarettes can cause irritation and inflammation in the throat and voice box. Otolaryngologist Dr. Julia Pfaff explained that vaping can mirror the effects of traditional smoking by placing tension on the voice box and hindering its ability to heal. Additionally, Dr. Rajesh Bhardwaj noted that inhaled aerosols can dry out and swell the delicate structures of the throat, leading to hoarseness and discomfort.

Other public figures, such as singer Lola Young, have also shared the physical toll of vaping, describing breathing as a ‘chore’ due to the habit.
