Self-driving car crashes into police van during demonstration

A self-driving car developed by technology enthusiast Ehsan Zafar crashed into a parked police van during a demonstration in Pakistan. The incident occurred while journalist Muhammad Aalijah was a passenger in the vehicle, which was being operated remotely.

Aalijah reported that the collision was caused by a technical fault resulting from an internet disruption. The loss of connectivity caused the vehicle to lose control and veer into the police vehicle. Despite Aalijah’s attempt to engage the handbrake to prevent the impact, the car struck the side of the van, causing visible damage.

Aalijah stated that the purpose of the test was to raise awareness regarding the need for thorough testing of new technologies before they are considered safe for public use. He emphasized that the incident served as a message of caution rather than an attempt to discredit the developer.
