Selimir Ognjenović honored for contributions to Istrian tourism

Selimir Ognjenović, a prominent figure in Croatian tourism and founder of I. D. Riva Tours, has been awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from Istria County for his exceptional contributions to the region's tourism development.

Awarded by County Prefect Boris Miletić on the occasion of Istria County Day, the recognition highlights Ognjenović's role in transforming the local tourism landscape. Since founding I. D. Riva Tours in 1995, he helped evolve the agency into a leading specialized German tour operator for Croatia, with headquarters in Poreč and offices in Trogir and Gräfelfing, Germany.

Ognjenović is credited with driving the growth of private accommodation and agrotourism in the Istrian interior. His influence contributed to the expansion of luxury villa rentals and helped shift the demographic focus toward central Istria. In early 2025, Ognjenović sold I. D. Riva Tours to the German tourism group Dertour, a member of the REWE Group.
