Balkan and Azerbaijani painters gather in Edirne for art summit
Twenty-four painters from the Balkan region and Azerbaijan have gathered in Edirne, Turkey, for the 7th International Balkan Painters Edirne Art Meeting. Organized by the Edirne Governor's Office and Trakya University, the event began on October 21.
Participants are using the historic Selimiye Mosque square—a UNESCO World Heritage site and the masterpiece of architect Mimar Sinan—as a central location to capture the city's architectural and cultural landmarks on canvas. The artists are conducting both field and practical studies to depict the region's historical atmosphere.
Trakya University Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hatipler noted that the event serves as a bridge of brotherhood through art. He announced that the works created during this 10-day program will be showcased in an exhibition to honor the Republic Day celebrations on October 29.
