Selin Şekerci criticizes age discrimination in the acting industry

Turkish actress Selin Şekerci has criticized the age-based double standards prevalent in the television and film industry. She highlighted a gender-driven imbalance where male actors are often cast alongside much younger women, while women face difficulties finding roles as they age.

Şekerci noted that she has lost numerous professional opportunities due to these rigid casting preferences. She explained that she is often deemed too old to play alongside male peers of her own age, yet simultaneously told she looks too young to be cast in maternal roles. She stated, "I don't understand why I can't act with actors my own age. Producers want 23-24-year-old girls to be next to men over 35."
