Sellraintal telecommunications outage resolved after fiber optic damage

A major telecommunications outage affecting mobile and landline services in the Sellraintal region and Kühtai has been resolved. The disruption, which began on the evening of October 12, 2026, impacted the municipalities of Sellrain, Gries im Sellrain, and St. Sigmund.

The outage was caused by damage to a main fiber optic line during installation work on guide rails. During the period of connectivity loss, residents were unable to make standard emergency calls. To manage the crisis, local fire departments served as emergency contact points, using radio systems to relay urgent calls to dispatch centers.

Service was fully restored on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, following repairs by the network operator.
