Selma Blair faces assault charges after flight incident

Actress Selma Blair is facing potential prison time following an incident on a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to New York on October 11. Blair was arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport after allegedly assaulting two flight attendants. Following the landing, she is also accused of assaulting a Port Authority officer and a nurse during her medical evaluation.

Blair has pleaded not guilty to two felony second-degree assault charges in Queens and was released on a $20,000 bond. She also faces potential federal charges regarding the incidents occurring within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States. The FBI is reportedly investigating the matter.

Blair’s legal team and representatives have stated that the conduct was the result of a medical emergency rather than intentional aggression. They noted that Blair, who lives with multiple sclerosis (MS), may have experienced complications due to missed medication and neurological conditions such as dystonia. Her attorney argued that the incident was not a “willful assault” but a consequence of her health status.
