Selma Interim Police Chief Michael Perry removed from office

During his four-month tenure, Perry addressed issues including equipment shortages, such as out-of-service patrol cars, and facility problems like malfunctioning air conditioning. He also attempted to manage the budget by reducing overtime spending by one-third. In a recent City Council meeting, Perry noted resistance from some officers regarding changes to accountability, overtime rules, and the chain of command.

Former police chief John Brock has returned to manage day-to-day operations to ensure stability while the Selma City Council’s search committee works to find a permanent chief.
