Selma police announce arrests in homicide and sexual assault cases

The Selma Police Department, working with the State Bureau of Investigation, announced the arrest of 18‑year‑old Damon Kanard Hooks, Jr. in connection with a recent homicide. Interim Selma Police Chief Michael Perry made the announcement at the department headquarters.

In a separate coordinated effort, 44‑year‑old Tygee Malik Smith was taken into custody on two counts of first‑degree rape and two counts of enticing a minor. The arrest resulted from a joint operation involving the Selma Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, and the Fourth Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force.
