Turkey conducts massive nationwide drug operations and arrests business leaders
Turkey has conducted massive anti-drug operations across 71 provinces, resulting in the seizure of 2,367 kilograms of narcotics and over 4 million synthetic pills. The Ministry of Interior reported that 894 suspects were apprehended, with 424 arrests made during the 10-day period.
In a separate large-scale investigation led by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, several prominent business figures were targeted in operations involving drug trafficking and prostitution. Among those arrested is Selman Reşitoğlu, chairman of Ekpet İnşaat, who has gained public attention for his high-profile lifestyle and significant government contracts. Additionally, Reyhan Çağla Baykam, Vice Chairman of KAM Ankara Beton Sanayi A.Ş., was detained.
Major seizures were also reported at Antalya Airport, where customs officials intercepted 18.9 kilograms of liquid methamphetamine valued at approximately 70 million TL. In Manisa and Mersin, authorities seized nearly 2 tons of drug raw materials and synthetic pills with an estimated market value of 1 billion TL. In Mersin specifically, a single warehouse raid uncovered 6 million empty capsules and 1.25 tons of synthetic drug raw material.
