Selçuk hosts EFEST 2026 festival and restores historic Friendship Clock

The EFEST 2026 festival in Selçuk, held to commemorate the 104th anniversary of the town's liberation, featured the restoration of the ‘Dostluk Saati’ (Friendship Clock). Originally a Vienna-style cube clock gifted to the town from Austria by the Austrian Excavation House during the 1970s, the clock had been removed years ago due to damage and a lack of original parts. It has now been reinstalled near the Kale Yokuşu Water Arches through the cooperation of local volunteers, businesspeople, and the municipality.

In addition to the clock's unveiling and the opening of the Kurtuluş Kafe, the festival continued with various cultural programs. These included workshops for children, sunrise yoga, and academic talks at the Selçuk Efes City Memory center. Topics covered the intersection of botany with mythology, cinema, and gastronomy, as well as discussions regarding the language of emotions.
