Selçuk Mağazacılık, the company behind Bad Bear, declares bankruptcy

Selçuk Mağazacılık A.Ş., the company behind the Turkish clothing brand Bad Bear, has been declared bankrupt by the Istanbul 3rd Civil Court of First Instance. The company, founded in 2012 by entrepreneur Seyhan Selçuk in a single room in Istanbul's Merter district, had grown into a significant domestic brand with millions of product sales through both physical stores and e-commerce.

The bankruptcy follows a failed concordat process. Facing rising interest rates, increased operating costs, and declining sales volumes, company partners Seyhan Selçuk and Kadir Çalışkanlar had previously applied for a debt restructuring plan. Although a court-ordered plan aimed to repay debts in 12 equal installments over 36 months, the company failed to achieve the expected financial recovery despite making initial payments. The court issued the final bankruptcy ruling on October 8, 2026.
