Selçuk University announces evictions at Gökkuşağı AVM

Selçuk University has issued a formal statement regarding the status of businesses operating within the Gökkuşağı AVM shopping center on the Alaeddin Keykubat Campus. The university announced that the lease agreements for 50 businesses are set to expire on December 31, 2025, and will not be automatically renewed.

Additionally, the university has initiated eviction proceedings for six specific businesses based on legal and technical grounds. Reports from technical units and the Fire Department indicate that the current structure and installations pose significant risks to life and property. Specifically, the reports highlight that the facility does not meet fire safety requirements, the electrical installations pose a vital danger, and the natural gas systems do not comply with technical specifications.

The university cited the 2024 Audit Report from the Turkish Court of Accounts, which noted that several businesses were operating in violation of regulations and advised the university to take necessary action. Due to these safety and legal deficiencies, the university stated it is legally impossible to re-lease these premises in their current state.
