Selvagem Soul blends Brazilian and Australian music in Sydney

The band Selvagem Soul, formed in Sydney, Australia, blends Brazilian musical traditions with Australian influences. The group features members from four different nationalities, combining genres such as MPB, Tropicália, funk, soul, and trip-hop.

The lineup includes Thiago Kampf (vocals, guitar, and composition), Etienne (DJ, production, and beats), Maitê Inaê (vocals), and Doc Proctor (bass). The project began to take shape following the Covid-19 pandemic, with the current formation being structured throughout 2026.

The collaboration originated from a meeting between Thiago Kampf and Etienne at a fashion event, where Kampf performed a mashup of Caetano Veloso and Bill Withers. Their first collaborative composition, ‘Wild Soul’, served as the inspiration for the band’s name, which combines Portuguese and English elements.
