Semahat Arsel Primary School opens in Gölcük

The Vehbi Koç Foundation Semahat Arsel Primary School has officially opened in the Gölcük district of Kocaeli, Turkey. The new facility was constructed through a collaboration between Ford Otosan and the Vehbi Koç Foundation (VKV) to replace the former Donanma Primary School, which was demolished due to earthquake risks.

Built on a 6,750-square-meter area, the modern school features 35 classrooms and is designed to accommodate 750 students with a staff of 40 teachers. The project, which began construction in 2025, is set to serve the community starting from the 2026-2027 academic year.

During the opening ceremony, Vehbi Koç Foundation Board Chair Semahat Arsel met with students. Ford Otosan General Manager Güven Özyurt highlighted the personal significance of the project, noting that many current employees attended the original school, creating a lasting connection between the company and the local community.
