Semana do Cinema breaks record with 3.5 million viewers in Brazil
The ‘Semana do Cinema’ (Cinema Week) campaign in Brazil has set a new record, drawing 3.5 million spectators to theaters between September 10 and September 13. This turnout surpassed the previous record of 2.79 million set during the February 2025 edition.
The promotional initiative, created by the National Federation of Cinema Exhibition Companies (Feneec), offers tickets starting at R$ 10. The campaign generated a total revenue of R$ 41.9 million over the four-day period. Data indicates that the price reduction significantly influenced audience frequency.
The film ‘Minha Melhor Amiga’, starring Ingrid Guimarães and Mônica Martelli, was a primary beneficiary of the promotion. The comedy saw a 158.75% increase in attendance compared to the previous weekend, attracting 1.23 million viewers during the campaign. This brings the film’s total to over 2.17 million spectators and R$ 36.35 million in revenue since its September 3 release.
