Semarang elementary school continues classes after tree damages classroom
On 28 July 2026 at around 10:00 WIB, a large tree fell onto classroom 1A of SDN 03 Sendangmulyo in Semarang, Central Java. All students and staff were safely evacuated and there were no injuries.
The Semarang City Education Department, led by Muhammad Ahsan, chose not to suspend schooling. Instead, first‑grade pupils share the usable second‑grade classroom on a morning‑afternoon alternating schedule to avoid possible trauma and keep learning on track.
Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi inspected the damaged site, announced a Rp50 million provincial grant for repairs to the Semarang school and a matching grant for a similarly collapsed school in Grobogan. The provincial government is coordinating with the Ministry of Education and local housing authorities to expedite reconstruction and ensure school safety.
