Semarang house fire kills 6-month-old infant

A house fire in the Banyumanik district of Semarang resulted in the death of a 6-month-old infant. The incident occurred on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at approximately 11:30 WIB on Jalan Cendana Timur, Srondol Wetan.

The fire is suspected to have been caused by a gas leak followed by an explosion in the kitchen. Three residents were injured and transported to RS Hermina Banyumanik for medical treatment, including a 50-year-old domestic worker and a 4-year-old child. The 6-month-old infant passed away while receiving hospital care due to burns.

Local police, led by Banyumanik Police Chief Kompol Hengky Prasetyo, responded to the scene to secure the area and coordinate with fire departments.
