Semes-Canarias Congress gathers emergency medical professionals in Tenerife

The Semes-Canarias 2026 Congress took place in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on October 23 and 24, bringing together approximately 130 emergency and urgent care professionals from across the Canary Islands. The event focused on updating clinical procedures, sharing knowledge, and addressing the primary challenges of urgent medical care.

Key scientific topics included the application of artificial intelligence in emergency medicine, specifically regarding diagnostic imaging and clinical practice. Other sessions addressed HIV detection in emergency services, the use of brain damage markers in traumatic brain injury patients, and clinical decision-making for sepsis, heart failure, and chest pain.

The program also featured a dedicated analysis of the response to the railway accident in Adamuz, Córdoba, involving fire services, pre-hospital care, and hospital teams. Practical workshops on emergency rescue and medical training were central to the congress's objectives.
