semFYC calls for national consensus on Primary Care
The Spanish Society of Family and Community Medicine (semFYC) has introduced a ten-point manifesto aimed at establishing a national consensus to protect Primary Care. The organization seeks to position Primary Care as a shared element of defense that remains independent of political differences and electoral cycles.
The manifesto calls on all political forces to incorporate core healthcare values into their programs, including accessibility, equity, continuity, integrality, proximity, resolutive capacity, and community orientation. semFYC argues these principles are essential guarantees for the quality and sustainability of the National Health System rather than mere corporate demands.
Key proposals within the ten guarantees include a specific regulatory framework, sufficient and protected funding, professional stability, adequate patient consultation time, team autonomy, and support for community health and research. The society also advocates for measurable objectives, public evaluation, and policy continuity that transcends individual legislative terms.
