Semi Ajayi faces injury doubt after historic Hull City goal

Hull City defender Semi Ajayi faces injury uncertainty following his club’s 2-0 Premier League victory over Manchester United. Despite scoring the opening goal—marking Hull City’s first Premier League goal since 2017—Ajayi was substituted in the 64th minute due to a hamstring issue.

This injury presents a significant setback for the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, as they prepare for upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau. Hull City manager Sergej Jakirovic confirmed that Ajayi was among several defensive players who required substitution due to injury concerns.

Ajayi, who has expressed readiness to compete for a starting position within the Nigerian squad, remains a key figure for both club and country. The extent of his hamstring injury is currently being assessed.
